How do I become a computer support technician?

Computer support technicians are the people who troubleshoot computer problems and teach users how to make the most of their desktop computers and mobile devices. They're part technology expert, part detective and help find and fix the kinds of problems that other people simply give up on. They are really important members of IT teams and the companies they work for.

So how do you become one?

There are various paths to a career as a computer support technician. Jobs in this career require computer knowledge, but not necessarily a four-year degree. Many employers seeking candidates for their computer support teams accept applicants with an associate degree or postsecondary classes. Companies may also require their computer support technicians to hold certifications in the products the companies use.
