Pharmacy Technician Program Overview

A Pharmacy technician career is the perfect choice for those who love working with people and who want to help them improve their health.

Pharmacy Technicians work under a licensed pharmacist. Depending on the pharmacy size and specialty, a Pharmacy Technician may refill prescription requests, maintain patient records, package and label prescribed medications, mix pharmaceutical preparations, and assist retail customers. Pharmacy technicians who work within a hospital setting may prepare and distribute IV medications, stock robotic dispensing machines, and work closely with other healthcare professionals providing care to patients.

There are a variety of employment opportunities for Pharmacy Technicians. Many work for large retail chains, and supermarket or drugstore pharmacies. Some technicians are employed by pharmaceutical wholesalers or mail order facilities. There are also job opportunities in hospitals, nursing homes, assisted-living facilities, pharmaceutical companies, and research facilities.

With training from YTI Career Institute, you could find yourself ready for a career as a Pharmacy Technician in a few as 9 months.
