Medical Billing and Coding Program Overview Medical Billing and Coding specialists are an essential part of any medical team. It's one of the great healthcare careers with a focus on the business, administrative, and office side of the medical profession. For healthcare professionals, front office and administrative work in a private practice or doctor's office is a perfect fit. In addition to completing medical records, insurance submissions, and billing, you may be responsible for providing overall office support including greeting patients and scheduling appointments. Some Billing and Coding specialists may prefer the business side of healthcare or the limited patient interaction of a larger billing company. Some might work in IT environments ranging from totally automated systems using electronic health records, to practices that haven't begun filing claims electronically. Working closely with Health Information Technology departments the focus is on proper coding, medical record security, invoicing, and accounting. Most Billing and Coding professionals work in physicians' offices, managed healthcare companies and insurance companies. Some are employed by hospitals, medical clinics and third party billing companies. There are also job opportunities in outpatient care centers, medical equipment suppliers, long term care facilities, and for state and local government agencies. With training from YTI Career Institute you could start your Medical Billing and Coding career in as few as 12 months. What will I study? Medical Office Administration
