Getting Started

Before starting your search, take a personal inventory and make a list of your personal attributes, academic record, talents, work experience and affiliations. Do the same for your parents - this will help you in your search.

Where to begin Your Search:

  • Your high school guidance office and/or their website.
  • The financial planning office at YTI Career Institute.
  • Parent Eligibility: scholarships may be offered through their prior military service, employer, union, trade association, etc.
  • Student Eligibility: scholarships may be offered through your previous or current jobs, clubs, ancestry, religion, etc.
  • The Internet. There are several great websites specifically designed to assist you in finding scholarships:

National groups, stores and organizations often provide scholarship information on their websites. When visiting these websites, avoid scholarship scams by making sure you look for scholarship information on that site.

Availability/Requirements: Provides financial assistance to PA residents in a low interest loan. Visit www.jgwfoundation.org for more information.

Kush Arora Attorney at Law Federal Justice Reform Scholarship
Mr. Arora understands that the success of the criminal justice system depends on the success of the bright young women and men who are pursuing their academic and professional dreams today. To help them achieve their goals, and to further bolster the system that he so proudly serves, Mr. Arora has established the Kush Arora Criminal Federal Justice Reform Scholarship.

This scholarship will award $500 to a deserving student who has demonstrated a thoughtful, well-reasoned view of whether certain laws and criminal justice policies are just or unjust.

The deadline to apply is June 1st, 2015. Eligibility criteria include a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA, a 1,000-word essay, and a current unofficial transcript. NAWIC Founders' Scholarship Foundation
Each year, the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) will award over $25,000 to worthy recipients in construction-related programs. Award amounts range from $1,000 to $2,000. Applications must be postmarked by March 15th of each year to qualify for competition. All interested students enrolled in an eligible program are encouraged to apply, regardless of gender. Primary Health Network Charitable Foundation Academic Award
The mission of the PHN Charitable Foundation is to build and support programs in the PHN service area that increases access to healthcare services and assist, through scholarships the pursuit of medical and allied heath careers.

The Academic Award is a scholarship that assists students who are pursuing a career in a health care field. The Primary Health Network Charitable Foundation awards ten (10) Academic Awards annually to local educational institutions within the Primary Health Network service area in the amount of $1,000.

To be eligible for this award a student must be currently majoring or intending on majoring in a health care field, or can be pursuing a certificate in a health care field.

Association of Certified Fraud Examiners-Ritchie Jennings Memorial Scholarship

Community General Hospital Foundation June A. Roedel Healthcare Scholarship of Berks County Community Foundation

Dental Assisting Scholarship - American Dental Association
Availability/Requirements: This scholarship is available to students entering the dental assisting field. Student must be enrolled in a dental assisting program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation, demonstrate a minimum financial need of $1000, and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. James Beard Foundation Scholarship Program
Availability/Requirements: The foundation awards several scholarships based on such factors as grade point average, extracurricular activities including work experience, letters of recommendation, and financial need. Visit www.jamesbeard.org for more information.

The Greater Philadelphia Hotel Association Scholarship
Availability/Requirements: Individual must be employed for at least six months at a GPHA member hotel or be an immediate family member of a GPHA employee. Student must also be enrolled in a program in hotel/restaurant management, hospitality management, food service or other hospitality-related program and have at least a 3.0 GPA. Four scholarships for $2,000 each will be awarded to students pursuing an automotive themed major. Two scholarships will be awarded every spring semester, followed by two additional scholarships to be awarded for the fall semester each year.

Clifford H. "Ted" Rees, Jr. Scholarship
The Clifford H. "Ted" Rees, Jr. Scholarship Foundation was established to assist with the recruitment and competency of future heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) technicians by awarding scholarships to qualified students who are enrolled in an institutionally accredited school.

Availability/Requirements: Individual must be a current YTI student at the York Campus in good standing with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 and an attendance record of at least 92%. This scholarship opportunity is available annually. Interested students should contact the YTI York Student Services office for additional application information and requirements.

Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration program opportunities:
Availability/Requirements: The Dave Nelsen Scholarship-National Association of Oil Heating Service Managers scholarship is open to any student currently attending or planning to attend a technical college or trade school who is involved in the oil heating industry. The PHCC Educational Foundation
Attracting new talent is essential to the future of the plumbing-heating-cooling (p-h-c) industry. The PHCC Educational Foundation and its industry partners are teaming up to identify and aid students pursuing a career in the p-h-c industry. The purpose of these six scholarship programs is to help students prepare for careers in the plumbing-heating-cooling (p-h-c) profession. Eligibility Criteria includes: A full-time certificate or degree program at an accredited two-year community college, technical college, or trade school, with a major directly related to the plumbing-heating-cooling (p-h-c) profession.
