{August 21, 2007 York, PA}- On Monday evening students in YTI Career Institute's Culinary Arts/Restaurant Management and Pastry Arts programs prepared and served a ten-course meal at the Governor's Mansion in Harrisburg for Governor Edward Rendell and First Lady Marjorie Rendell. Other honored guests included Chef Robert Irvine, an internationally recognized celebrity chef and host of the Food Network's "Dinner Impossible" and distinguished members of the National Governor's Association of Chefs. The association is comprised of chefs serving in various Governors' Residences across the country.
Under the guidance of their YTI Chef Instructors, the student chefs were given the opportunity to demonstrate and showcase the culinary skills they have acquired while attending YTI's 21-month Culinary Arts & Restaurant Management and 12-month Pastry Arts programs.
The first team of student chefs was given the task of preparing and presenting all ten-courses of the meal within a strict timeline, while the other team bravely took on the front-of-the-house role of serving guests. Students from both sides rose to the occasion and captured the admiration of everyone in the room, sending out course after course with dazzling presentation. Chef Rob Poulton, Director of YTI's Culinary Arts/Restaurant Management Program, said, "The Student Chefs and Chef Instructors really hit a grand slam home run last night and should be extremely proud of their achievements. This was a room full of accomplished culinary professionals with high expectations, and our students and chefs really delivered."
